THE LIVING WAGE CAMPAIGN PRESENTS:
NU STANDS RIGHT HERE
DIRECTED & DEVISED
ABOUT THE PLAY
The NU Living Wage Campaign ACTIVIST PERFORMANCE PROJECT (APP), which I designed and led, was an initiative to provide a unique forum to examine the dynamics between NU workers, students, the administration, labor unions, etc. that the Northwestern Living Wage Campaign brought to light.
Using the LWC's training and campaign principles, nine artists interacted with campus workers; heard, told and imagined stories; and created a theatre piece intended to engage the greater NU community with the LWC conversation, and to make these people and issues human.
The APP's NU Stands Right Here was site-specific, performed in the cafeteria in the student center, right at the time where Northwestern's cafeteria workers were cleaning up and closing down the space, to give the audience a larger, always-present sense of the great urgency of the topic.
